Book Review:

Ami and Olive are identical twin sisters. Ami has always been the lucky twin and is getting married to Dane, the love of her life. She is able to put her entire wedding together by winning the contests and drawings. Olive who has always considered herself the unlucky or jinxed one. She lost her job, had to move to her parent's home.

At the wedding buffet, everyone gets food poisoning except Olive who has a seafood allergy and Ethan (groom’s elder brother) who hates the idea of eating in a buffet. So Olive and Ethan go on Ami and Dane’s honeymoon to Maui which has either you go or lose it clause.

This book started a little slow for me but the story picked up well when Olive and Ethan reach Maui. The description of Maui is breathtaking.  They know that they have to pretend as a couple for 10 days but unforeseen situations force them to pretend very seriously and they realize they do not mind spending time with each other and they care for each other.

It is a quick and easy read and I liked Olive and Ethan. I loved the bond between Amy and Olive and their family amazing. I liked the banter between Olive and Ethan.

Although I understand this is fiction, the idea of everyone falling sick at the wedding buffet was simply unrealistic for me. I am in the minority and please don't hate me for that but this book seemed a little overhyped to me.

Synopsis:

For two sworn enemies, anything can happen during the Hawaiian trip of a lifetime—maybe even love—in this romantic comedy from the New York Times bestselling authors of Roomies.

Olive Torres is used to being the unlucky twin: from inexplicable mishaps to a recent layoff, her life seems to be almost comically jinxed. By contrast, her sister Ami is an eternal champion . . . she even managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a slew of contests. Unfortunately for Olive, the only thing worse than constant bad luck is having to spend the wedding day with the best man (and her nemesis), Ethan Thomas.

Olive braces herself for wedding hell, determined to put on a brave face, but when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. Suddenly there’s a free honeymoon up for grabs, and Olive will be damned if Ethan gets to enjoy paradise solo.

Agreeing to a temporary truce, the pair head for Maui. After all, ten days of bliss is worth having to assume the role of loving newlyweds, right? But the weird thing is . . . Olive doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, the more she pretends to be the luckiest woman alive, the more it feels like she might be.

With Christina Lauren’s “uniquely hilarious and touching voice” (Entertainment Weekly), The Unhoneymooners is a romance for anyone who has ever felt unlucky in love.
